How we reached each verdictThe numbers behind each model's score
Levoit LV600HH
Our research found a sharp split: the expert score is 84 while the owner score is just 40, giving an overall score of 63. The expert case rests mostly on one hands-on evaluation (techgearlab.com), which rated it the top overall performer, reaching 45% humidity in about 30 minutes with a humidistat accurate to 1-2 points. Owners tell a different story on upkeep: 34 of 82 owner comments (41%) cite hard cleaning, and 13% mention failures. With only 3 expert sources, 1 hands-on test, 1 published score, and a paywalled Consumer Reports listing that offered no conclusions, our confidence is low.
Pure Enrichment MistAire
Our research found strong, consistent agreement that the MistAire is a quiet, easy, affordable humidifier for small spaces: all 3 hands-on experts praised its quiet operation, and among 503 owner comments, 47% praise its humidifying and 38% its quietness. Its overall score is 77, with owners (81) slightly warmer than experts (78), and retail ratings average 4.2 stars across 22,500 Amazon votes. The main weak spot is durability: we found a reliability score of 67, failure mentions in 13% of owner comments, and smaller reports of mold or smell (4%) and leaks (3%). The evidence is thinner on the expert side, with only 3 reviews and no published scores, so our confidence is medium.
